About us
The fellowship of believers that has become Peace Episcopal Church started in early 2007 meeting in homes–around dining room tables, in restaurant meeting rooms, anywhere we could. We would conduct Morning Prayer services from the Book of Common Prayer. In June 2007 we were blessed by our Lutheran brothers and sisters and allowed to meet at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Rockport, Indiana. Our priest and friend Father Don Overton graciously agreed to celebrate with us weekly. We were granted mission status by the 170th Convention of the Diocese of Indianapolis in late October 2007.
We are a liturgical church. That means that we follow a prescribed rite of worship. Our services are very reverent and follow the guidance of the Book of Common Prayer. We feel that there is a gap in the Protestant church in our area that we can fill, and we welcome all who are seeking a more meaningful relationship with Christ.
Mission: Statement:
We strive every day to fulfill Christ’s command to love one another and to provide a welcoming place of worship for all who seek to follow in Christ’s path. We seek to provide a home to nurture souls, provide the Eucharist, zealously do good works, and provide fellowship to all who enter our doors. We strive to seek and share in Christ’s image throughout our community and the world.
